About Us
The Craftsman Gardener was founded in 2000, and although most of our clients are based in Essex, we undertake projects across south-east England and beyond.
Simon Metcalf (BA Hons, Oxon.)
An HND in horticulture from Writtle College coupled with experience working with the RHS (Royal Horticultural Society) stands Simon in good stead when it comes to the finer points of garden management. Extensive plant knowledge and an eye for detail give Simon the edge over many in his field, while a common sense approach to gardening ensures the job gets done with minimal fuss.
Michael Deleon (BA Hons, Queens College, NY)
An American by birth and trained in New York, Michael studied at the New York Botanical Gardens. Drawn in part in by the UK’s longstanding horticultural tradition, Michael moved to this country in 2001,after designing and working on gardens in New York and beyond. He has since built up an extensive client base over here, one which includes the National Trust. With a flair for design and natural tendency to think ‘outside the box’ (please excuse the American jargon!), Michael find his US background brings an excitingly different perspective to the team.
