Maintenance

At the Craftsman Gardener we pride ourselves as skilled gardeners, and unlike many designers, are more than happy to get our hands dirty in the day-to-day tasks necessary to keep a garden looking its best.  We have many long-established clients whom we see on a regular basis, and as gardeners, we take great delight in seeing a garden evolve and mature over time.  We welcome the opportunity to work with our hands as well as our heads, and build on the knowledge that gives us the edge over so many design and landscape companies.

You probably won’t want us to mow your lawn or trim your hedges - these may be tasks you feel comfortable doing yourself, or maybe you already have someone who takes care of these things for you.  But you may want to see us on a monthly or seasonal basis to take care of those all-important gardening tasks that you are unable to do yourself, such as expert pruning, correct training of climbers, ground preparation in borders and seasonal plant maintenance.  This approach enables us to move things forward and implement gradual changes such as new planting schemes, without you having to endure the disruption of full-scale redevelopment.

Renovation

Some gardens we take on have suffered long years of serious neglect or mismanagement, and we love the prospect of restoring them to their former glory.  Others have simply become rather overgrown, and require nothing more than a rejuvenating fix of due care and attention.  Whatever the situation, we’re fully equipped with the horticultural expertise to judge the appropriate course of action and act accordingly.

We often find that after the initial blitz of activity in such situations, our clients continue to employ our services on an occasional basis to ensure their garden continues to develop in the right direction!
